Katie and Robert loved Ti Kaye Village Resort in St. Lucia, where they stayed on their May honeymoon. Katie found the resort through her online research and loved the remote location of the accommodations.

She says it was “kind of a hike to get there” though not literally on foot. The resort’s van picked them up at the airport and they traveled along some very bumpy, rustic roads to arrive at the destination. But Katie and Robert where thrilled with their choice and were welcomed with complimentary cocktails upon arrival.

Katie describes the resort as “pretty small” which means they avoided hustle and bustle and go to focus on relaxation. The highlight of the whole stay was their room. The private porch had spectacular views and a private pool. She says, “It was great to hang out on our own hammock and have privacy in our very own pool.”

There was even a private outdoor shower. Another highlight was the couple’s massage they had on the balcony one afternoon.

The bed was strewn with flowers when they first arrived… a small touch that the honeymooners loved.
The resort has a larger shared pool which Katie and Robert also used. Access down to the beach was just steps away as well. She says, “Every day we had to decide do we wanna go to the pool or the beach today”

For meals, they ate most dinners at the resort’s waterfront restaurant (above) which features seafood and other fresh selections and a “sundress casual” dress code. There is an option for a meal package, though Katie and Robert opted to keep things simple. Most mornings they ordered in a room-service fruit plate for breakfast, grabbed a sandwich at the pool or lunch or had some snacks they’d brought from home, and then splurged on an a la carte dinner.

Katie says the resort was so “amazing” that they’d love to go back someday. And their first stop would be to grab a tropical cocktail under the paper lanterns at Ti Kaye’s on-site bar.

“This is still probably the most amazing place we’ve ever stayed,” Jen says of the hotel where she and Eli spent time during the Santorini portion of their honeymoon. Built right into the cliffs Sunrocks, is a couples-only luxury hotel offering guests comfort in true style. You have to check out their website to the full taste of their beautiful, minimal, Mediterranean feel.

Jen says, “This hotel was a total splurge, but totally worth it.”

She says, “We were greeted with champagne and snacks in the room.” Sunrocks has two restaurants and a pool bar. All of the food Jen and Eli ordered here “was delicious”. She adds, “We especially liked the infinity pool that looked like it spilled over the edge of the cliff.”

Their gorgeous suite that looked like “the inside of a whitewashed cave.” Jen adds that they had, “an amazing balcony that looked onto the blue waters of the caldera.”

Though they never got a great beach day, Jen and Eli took full advantage of the sun and the pool to lay to lay about in their bathing suits. A little rain couldn’t dampen their spirits. If fact it brought with it an awesome thunderstorm one night with great lightning. Jen adds, “Eli was pretty blown away by the lightning show in Santorini – he still talks about it.”

Lato Boutique Hotel, Iraklio on Crete

Jen and Eli loved this very modern luxury hotel even though they spent only one night here. That’s because the staff “upgraded us to an executive suite when they found out we were honeymooners.” The threw in a complimentary bottle of wine too. Jen says, “we had a wrap-around balcony overlooking the harbor – amazing views!”

While in the town of Chania on the island of Crete, Jen and Eli stayed at Casa Delfino. This was their first hotel on the honeymoon and Eli says, “While it took us a while to navigate the labyrinthine streets that are Hania, we were pleasantly surprised to find a charming hotel with a central courtyard and spacious, airy rooms.”

History buffs will love that it’s a genuine 17th century Venetian palazzo. Jen adds, “The breakfast spread in the courtyard each morning was amazing, especially the fresh Greek yogurt with honey.”

Electra Palace, Athens

Jen and Eli describe the Electra Palace as having “more of an upscale business hotel feel” than a luxury resort. Jen is pictured above in the courtyard. But with its close proximity to everything in Athens, “we could walk everywhere we wanted to go.”

They made sure to mention the “great robes and slippers!”

I couldn’t mention the Electra Palace without talking about the incredible rooftop pool. Check out the views of the Acropolis from up high.

Plaza Beach, Naxos

Plaza Beach Hotel in Plaka on Naxos wasn’t Jen and Eli’s favorite, but definitely did it’s job. She says it was “very nice with a big room.” She adds, “it has a close proximity to the beach, but was a bit of a trek to restaurants and the main town.”

Some choose The Delano for its design sense. Others for its South Beach location. But everyone chooses The Delano for its pool. During the day, the lounge chairs and cabanas are the place to see and be seen. At night the pool heats up into one of Miami’s hottest bars.

Celebrities, socialites and decked-out ‘regular’ folk flock to the pool day and night. But catching some rays here doesn’t come cheap. Besides splurging on a room, be prepared to shell out for bottle service in the cabanas.

Just like the all-white guest rooms, the Agua Spa is minimal and modern. Offering the typical spa services, the best part of any treatment is relaxing on the roofdeck when you’re done.

A manicure will run you around $50 and hour-long massages start at $140. You can also get spa services in your pool-side cabana. The spa is open 9 am to 9 pm everyday.

The Delano offers numerous food and drink options, including Blue Sea (it’s sushi spot), the Rose Bar and the Blue Door Terrace (below). Grab lunch and a cocktail here during the day to people-watch and relax.

We also got a peek at the legendary Florida Room bar, designed in collaboration with Lenny Kravitz (below). The place was empty since it was early in the day, but you can imagine this room gets going when packed until the wee hours of the morning.

The Delano is an experience for all five senses. It can also be a hit on the wallet. Tomorrow we’ll check out a funky Miami hotel that’s much more budget-friendly.

Erica and Mike chose to stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui (above) as well as the Grand Hyatt Kauai.  They agree that the splurge was absolutely worth every penny because of the views from the rooms, the excellent food, the attentive staff. Plus Mike got Hyatt reward point for their stays.

One of the biggest attractions for these two resorts is their amazing, sprawling pools.

The Steins spent tons of time in the water.

They also loved sitting poolside with drinks in hand.

And, the even had drinks in the pool at Maui Hyatt Regency’s swim-up bar called the Grotto Bar.

These two honeymooners were treated like a king and queen, with chilled champagne greeting them at check-in. They also received a romance package complete with strawberries, chocolates, free dinner vouchers, and first class treatment.

They both felt the staff went above and beyond to make their stay wonderful. In fact, Mike was so impressed that he wrote letter to Hyatt, “commending their staff, and specifically two individuals (Trey and Courtney) who were extremely pleasant and helpful in making our experience unforgettable.”
